Updated Mar 28, 2026As of March 23, 2026, Bradley International Airport was operating normally with TSA lines moving smoothly, and ICE agents were not expected to be deployed to support security operations. Airport officials said there continued to be no operational impact at Bradley related to the partial government shutdown.
Avelo Airlines suspended services at Bradley Airport in late 2025 after just a year of operations, despite receiving $807,000 in rent-free first year incentives and $102,000 in marketing funds from the Connecticut Airport Authority. The airline announced its departure in October 2025, with its last flight to Jamaica in January 2026. Avelo will owe more than $1.3 million by the end of June 2027.
Bradley International Airport is nearing completion of a $250 million infrastructure upgrade designed to improve efficiency and enhance passenger experience. The terminal expansion includes new retail and dining options, with SSP America investing $15 million to bring in 15 new or refurbished food and retail locations including Urban Lodge, Sparrow Pizza, and Chick-fil-A. Urban Lodge is expected to open in early 2026.
