United Airlines will inaugurate new daily nonstop service between Kansas City International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport starting April 6, 2026. The flight provides travelers another access point to one of the largest U.S. cities and major tourism destination.

Southwest Airlines will begin new nonstop service between Kansas City International Airport and Punta Cana International Airport on March 7, 2026, with once-weekly Saturday flights. The service provides easy access to one of the top Caribbean destinations.

A new economic impact study commissioned by Kansas City Aviation Department shows Kansas City International Airport generated $6.3 billion in total economic output in 2024, creating nearly 40,000 jobs with $1.8 billion in payroll. The study shows 25% growth from 2014 and was announced February 2, 2026.

Kansas City International Airport served over 12.1 million passengers in 2024, the busiest year in the airport's history. The record passenger traffic follows the opening of the new single terminal in 2023, which has been recognized for its design and construction.

Kansas City International Airport is among the highest-priority locations to receive TSA PreCheck Touchless ID biometric technology in early 2026. The facial recognition system will enhance security screening efficiency for eligible travelers.
