Updated Mar 8, 2026The $9.5 billion New Terminal One at JFK, the largest private-public partnership in the U.S., is on schedule to open first phase with headhouse and 14 gates in 2026. The 2.4 million square foot all-international terminal will ultimately have 23 gates and 300,000+ square feet of retail and dining when complete in 2030.
Korean Air confirmed Airbus A380 service will operate daily from Seoul Incheon to New York JFK from March 29, 2026, replacing the current Boeing 777-300ER. The double-decker deployment provides increased capacity on the route, with the A380 also returning to LAX four times weekly starting March 30.
JFK Millennium Partners announced substantial building enclosure completion in June 2025 with first gates planned for early 2026. More than 1,200 local workers spent nearly four million construction hours on the $4.2 billion, 1.2 million square foot terminal. Airlines relocating include Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Lufthansa, and JetBlue.
JFK's Terminal 5 is undergoing a major redesign featuring a refreshed center concourse and over 40 new concessions with a park-inspired design including lush greenery and warm lighting. The upgrades, originally announced in 2025, will be completed by the end of 2026, with new concessions opening throughout 2025-2026.
