The Port Authority has completed the transformation of LaGuardia Airport into a world-class gateway with an $8 billion redevelopment—the first complete rebuild of a U.S. airport in over 25 years. LaGuardia earned the Skytrax World Airport Award for best airport in North America for domestic and short haul international travel for 2025.

LaGuardia Airport faced significant disruptions on March 14 with 223 delays and 39 cancellations affecting Endeavor Air, Spirit, Delta, and other airlines. The disruptions notably affected key destinations including New York City, Washington D.C., and Boston, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at the airport.

JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty stated that New York LaGuardia Airport has become too expensive for the airline to operate large schedules after its multi-billion-dollar redevelopment. The airline once operated about 50 daily flights from LaGuardia but now runs only around 13, highlighting how rising airport costs are reshaping airline competition in New York.
